FAQ

Laser

Is laser hair removal permanent?
For the most part, clients enjoy permanent hair removal as a result of laser treatment. But in some cases, factors like hormonal changes in our body can result in hair returning to certain areas. If this is a concern of yours, please note that we will discuss this with you during your appointment.

Does laser hurt?
Mild discomfort can be experienced during some laser treatments, and discomfort can vary depending on the areas being treated. If you’re at all worried, pain relief methods can be discussed with your therapist in consultation prior to your treatment.

How long does laser hair removal last for?
You can generally expect that after 6-8 treatments, you will not have to shave the area again in the future. To help you maintain those results, however, we recommend interim treatments every couple of months. Hormonal changes such as pregnancy, menopause or medication can induce hair growth to certain areas, and please note that results can be dependent on how much hair is present to start with, and the area being treated.

Can I wax or shave in-between laser?
No waxing should be performed in the lasered area before or after starting treatment (we need the hair follicle to be present), and shaving is recommended only between treatments if personally desired. For the most part, you shouldn’t need to shave except for right before your next treatment, as a shaven area helps the laser light locate the hair follicles better.

Can I spray-tan or sunbathe after laser?
We recommend avoiding spray-tanning for 7 days prior to any laser treatment, and please ensure that any spray-tan residue is completely gone by the time of treatment. After having any laser treatment, it is best to avoid spray-tanning or sunbathing for 48 hours due to the skin's sensitivity.

Do I need to do anything to prepare myself for my treatment?
Please shave the area fully 24 hours prior to treatment, and ensure that all spray-tan or self-tan residue is completely washed off. Essentially, spray tan changes the colour of the skin which can hinder how effectively the laser light is attracted to pigments in your skin. For this reason, we recommend you limit your exposure to natural sunlight as well.

How old do I need to be to have laser?
No laser treatments will be performed if you are under the age of 18, pregnant or breastfeeding.

Injectables

How long will my injectables last?
Anti-wrinkle injections can last anywhere from 2 to 6 months, but the products duration is mostly dependant on a number of factors like dosage, your metabolism and your lifestyle factors. During your appointment, we will have an opportunity to learn about these things in more detail, and better advise you.

Is filler permanent?
No. Filler is administered in a non-invasive way, and is created from natural hyaluronic acid which is already found in our bodies. It is a powerful humectant that keeps skin plump and hydrated, helping to fill areas of volume loss. It will diminish naturally over time, so top-up treatments are recommended to help maintain results.

Do filler injections hurt?
Some people can feel mind discomfort during injectable treatments, but most filler products contain a local anaesthetic to help reduce the amount the discomfort felt. If you’re particularly concerned, please let us know and we can discuss other pain relief options with you.

Will I look frozen or unnatural?
Absolutely not. Our medically-trained clinician wants you to look fabulous, but note that with a full dose, the desired outcome is often to experience no movement in the injected area. If that is not your goal, we will not administer that dosage. Ultimately, dermal fillers are designed to change your face in the way that makes you feel the most beautiful and natural, and our mission is to help you achieve that.

When will I see results?
Anti-wrinkle injections will kick in between 2 to 7 days after being administered, and they can take up to two weeks to see the full effects. Dermal filler results will be seen immediately, but due to possible swelling and bruising, you can expect to see the true results between 4 to 8 weeks.

Do filler injections hurt?
Some people can feel mind discomfort during injectable treatments. Most filler products contain a local anaesthetic which helps reduce the amount the discomfort felt, but other pain relief can be discussed with your injector if needed.

How do injectables work?
Repetitive motion contributes to the formation of wrinkles, so anti-wrinkle injections are injected in the muscle to stop it from making that movement. Stopping those deep facial expressions prevents wrinkles from forming, softens existing lines and prevents existing lines from getting worse. Dermal fillers work by plumping up volume loss in the face and replenishing the natural fallen structures of the face that happen as we age.

How will it look when it dissolves?
Like it was before. Your skins laxity, fat loss and muscle movement will all return back to normal once the product wears off.

Will I have to get it done forever?
Yes, ideally filler should be topped up 1 to 3 times per year to maintain best results. If anti-wrinkle injections are started young enough, they can prevent intense muscle movements being made, as you essentially retrain them. Many young clients donʼt feel the need to have it as often as more mature clients, but studies show that replenishing volume loss and structural loss with dermal fillers early on can slow the ageing process.

How old do I need to be to have injectables?
No injectable treatments will be performed if you are under the age of 18, pregnant or breastfeeding.

What is the aftercare?
Please do not indulge in exercise for at least 24 hours after treatment, or facial treatments/back massages for two-weeks post. Please do not lie down for 4 to 6 hours after an anti-wrinkle injection, or 6 to 8 hours for dermal filler. Keep makeup off the skin to avoid infection, and avoid heavy rubbing on the treated area for 3 to 4 days. Abstain from alcohol for 24 hours. Avoid extreme temperatures like saunas, and avoid all blood thinners for 48 hours.
